About Us

In the early nineties our investigators, Dr. Wright, Dr. Brinson, and Dr. Werntz worked for the family practice residency program of The Central Texas Medical Foundation. The foundation had an HIV Study Group, which enabled patients to get access to the latest drugs via clinical trials. Dr. Wright and Dr. Brinson were investigators for the HIV Study Group and Dr. Werntz referred patients. In the late nineties The Central Texas Medical Foundation was taken over by Seton which had rules incompatible with conducting these trials, so the HIV Study Group stopped conducting trials.

In 1999 we founded Central Texas Clinical Research as a dedicated clinical research facility to fill the void for HIV patients. We have since conducted over 100 trials and we have worked with almost all of the major pharmaceutical companies and CROs. Though we are the premier HIV study site in Central Texas, we now have experience with studies in a wide range of therapeutic areas including HEP C, Hypertension, Pain, Weight Loss, Diabetes, Cardiac, Vaccine, Migraine, Lipid, Anemia, Neuropathy, and HIV/HEP C co-infection.

We conduct phase I-IV clinical trials with subjects age 18 and older. We have a very broad patient base covering a wide variety of therapeutic areas. We recruit all ethnic groups and gender is split about 50/50 between males and females. Though we recruit most subjects from each physician's private practice, we also recruit study subjects using our patient database, referrals from outside physicians and advertising. We are interested in participating in studies in most therapeutic areas, especially Hypertension, HEP C, Hair Loss, Pain, Headache, Allergy, Asthma, Sleep, Neurology, Urology, Contraception, Vaccine, HIV and Sexual Disorder.
